RedactLive — Privacy Mask for Screen Sharing

Effective: 4 June 2026 · Last updated: 4 June 2026

RedactLive is a Chrome extension built by PixelForgeHub (Yogesh Nichal). This policy explains exactly how the extension handles your data. In short: your screen content never leaves your browser.

Summary

RedactLive masks sensitive content on the tab you choose, entirely on your device. It has no backend — no data is collected on any server operated by PixelForgeHub. Masking (both automatic pattern detection and manual click-to-mask) runs in your browser, in memory. The only network request the extension ever makes is an optional license check, which sends nothing but your license key.

What We Store Locally

The following is saved in Chrome's local extension storage on your device only. Nothing is transmitted to PixelForgeHub:

  • Your preferences (mask mode, which detection patterns are enabled, any custom regex)
  • Your Pro license key and activation state (only if you activate Pro)
  • (Pro) Per-site mask profiles — stored as element selectors plus your pattern choices for a hostname. These contain no page content, only structural selectors and settings.

All stored data can be cleared by removing the extension from Chrome.

The One Network Call

The only outbound request RedactLive ever makes is to api.lemonsqueezy.com, and only when you click Activate or during a periodic license re-check. What is sent: your license-key string and an anonymous device identifier, used solely to validate your Pro license. What is not sent: anything from the page, ever. If you never enter a license key, RedactLive makes zero network requests and runs fully offline.

Permissions Explained

  • activeTab: RedactLive accesses the current tab only when you click the toolbar icon to arm it, so it can mask the page you choose to protect. It does not access any tab you have not explicitly armed.
  • scripting: Injects the masking engine and styles into the armed tab on demand (chrome.scripting). No scripts are loaded remotely.
  • storage: Saves your preferences, license key, and per-site profiles locally on your device.

Host Permissions

None requested. RedactLive declares no host permissions and no always-on content scripts; it injects only into the tab you arm. The extension's content security policy allows network calls to a single endpoint, api.lemonsqueezy.com, used only for optional license validation.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not read, store, upload, or transmit the content of any page you mask.
  • We do not collect analytics or telemetry.
  • We do not require an account, sign-up, or login.
  • We do not sell or share user data with third parties.
  • We do not track your browsing history or read pages you have not armed.
  • We do not transfer data for advertising, credit scoring, or any purpose unrelated to masking.

Honest Security Note

RedactLive reduces accidental exposure of sensitive data during screen sharing. It masks web-page content in the armed tab; it cannot mask operating-system notifications, other application windows, or the browser's address bar. Blur mode is visual obfuscation, not encryption — for credentials, use Solid mode. RedactLive is a safeguard against accidental exposure, not a guarantee against a determined party recording your screen. Always review your own screen before you share.

Third-Party Services

When you activate Pro, your license key is validated through Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider and merchant of record. That interaction is governed by Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy. No page content is involved in license validation.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy we'll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes (e.g., any new data handling) will be communicated in the extension's release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
